The football equivalent of the Joker returns to Gotham City on Saturday when coach Lane Kiffin’s LSU team plays at Ole Miss, the program he left during a playoff season.
College Games Day is on the scene. And “damn lane kiffin! The song came early. (A preview of it happened during Sports Centerwhen Stanford Steve did a quick segment from the scene in Oxford.)
There’s not much ESPN can do about it. And, in this day and age, hearing “F” bombs on live TV isn’t nearly as annoying as it used to be.
But it’s a snapshot of the vitriol Kiffin will face all day and all night when he faces a school that had its best chance ever to chase a championship — and that he abandoned before the job was done.
And so the man at the center of efforts to remove so-called “chaos” from college football will face another kind of chaos until the game is over and Kiffin walks off the field.
In the meantime, here’s hoping someone explains to Kirk Herbstreit why is kiffin being bashed. Because even Kirk’s dog gets it.
