After refusal a little forward Cole Swider, Lakers took the next step by signing a free agent guard Jahmir Young to the Exhibit 10 training camp deal, The Athletic’s Dan Woyk writes (Link to Twitter). They also signed a New Zealand forward Aniwanwa Tate-Jones to the Annex 10 deal, reports Olgun Uluk for ESPN (via Twitter).
Young, a 26-year-old 6’0″ point guard, is entering his third NBA season. He spent last year with the Heat, playing 58 minutes in 14 games after his first season with the Bulls. Last season, he played 31 games with the Heat’s G League affiliate, the Sioux Falls Skyforce, where he averaged 25.9 points, 8.5 assists, 1.8 steals and 4.8 rebounds on .461/.360/.839 shooting.
With the Lakers’ backcourt heavily decimated, Young gives them some extra depth to carry through the rest of the preseason.
Tate-Jones is a 6’6″ forward. The 25-year-old played his last two collegiate seasons at UC San Diego before going undrafted in 2025. Last season, he played 30 games for Valmiera Glass VIA in the Estonian-Latvian Basketball League, where he started 29 games and averaged 15.9 points and 6.9 rebounds en route to being named the MVP of the Latvian-Estonian Basketball League.
Both players will be eligible for a bonus of up to $91,000 on top of their base salary if they are waived before the start of the season and spend at least 60 days with the Coachella Valley Lakers of the G League.
