Former WWE and AEW star Maria Kanellis has accomplished a lot throughout her professional wrestling career, from winning titles to being called the “First Lady of ROH.” He has taken a step back from the business, however, following his departure from AEW last January. Since then, he takes care of his healthand she happily works as an event planner and florist in Nashville in addition to being a mom.
during the interviewInsight with Chris Van VlietKanellis revealed that after his rather unceremonious departure from Tony Khan’s company, he spent several years thinking about what was next.
“Because I was in AEW and I was in ROH and I had a tumor and I had skin cancer and I had this and I had that,” Kanellis said. “So it was a lot of self-expression. Fortunately, I have a husband who just let me take the time to figure out, “What do I want to do next?” I finally found something, so now I’m in everyone, but before that it was very similar. “Eh. I don’t know. I don’t know. I miss the speech and I miss this.” It was really hard.”
As for his future, Kanelis has once again been sure he hasn’t closed the door on a return to wrestlingsomething he has been open about in the past. He mentioned a common trope when it comes to retirement that you never know in wrestling.
“I haven’t closed the door, but it’s not always up to the person,” he said. “Wrestling, probably not, unless it’s like the Royal Rumble or another Evolution pay-per-view or something. But, consistently wrestling. Probably not.”
