A championship diamond in the rough Wales international, Ellis Mee, pledged his allegiance Scarlets for the immediate future by signing a new deal with the Llanelli-based region.
The willowy wing arrived at Parc y Scarlets from Nottingham as a relative unknown in 2024 and has since played 43 times for the Scarlets and won 11 caps for his country.
Mee, 23, made his Test debut for Wales against Ireland in 2025 Six Nations and he could add to that number after being appointed to Steve Tandy’s Nations Championship line-up for November.
“I’m delighted to be resigning with the Scarlets. Since I joined the club a few seasons ago, the guys have been so welcoming which has made this move easy for me,” Mee said.
“The coaching staff has been really good at helping me grow as a player, I’ve really enjoyed the opportunities I’ve had and I’ve learned a lot over the last few seasons. I can’t wait to see what’s to come.”
“With the young, ambitious squad we have here, I’m really looking forward to seeing what we can build over the coming seasons. I really think we have something special in this group of guys and there’s a real belief in what we’re trying to build together.”
Scarlets director of rugby Nigel Davies added: “We are absolutely delighted that Ellis has committed his future to the Scarlets.
“He is an exciting player, a great character within the group and someone who represents the ambition and energy we are trying to build.
“He has real pace, power and the ability to beat defenders. He is also strong in the air, increasingly effective in his defensive work and developing a much better understanding of how to influence games, with and without the ball.
“When Ellis arrived from Nottingham he had some outstanding natural qualities, but what impressed me most was his appetite for learning, his willingness to work and the progress he continued to make.
“Ellis’ journey is also something that reflects the wider work that goes on here at the Scarlets. There is a huge amount of effort that goes into identifying players, bringing them into our environment and helping them develop.”
“Developing players who can perform at international level has always been an important part of Scarlets’ identity and our contribution to Welsh rugby and it is vital that we continue to create an environment where talented players can fulfill their potential.”
“It’s just as important to keep those players as they develop. We want to build a competitive Scarlets team and that means keeping hold of our best young talent, giving them the chance to grow together and creating genuine competition for places.”
