NFL survivor picks, strategy: Week 8 safe, value, and trap options

The NFL heads into November and Survivor pools across the country are on fire. Last week, the Texans lost to the Giants and the Jets to the Dolphins in overtime. The 49ers lost to the Falcons, but Texans-Giants wasn’t too far behind Jets-Dolphins. The Vikings held the Colts and the Broncos pulled away from the Cardinals to keep those guys alive.

I’m back with my Week 8 Survivor Picks ahead of Panthers-Packers. Thursday night football. Survivor involves picking one team each week to win. If they beat you, if they lose you’re out in most cases. I’m in a single tank with four inlets, but it’s also a double drain tank. I lost three tackles last week when the Texans took me down. I’m already on one entry with one sign, so we’re getting down to the wire.

We’ve got four matches this week that are favored by a touchdown or more. The Bengals are 10.5 home favorites against the Titans, the Jaguars are 9.5 point favorites against the Colts, the Cowboys are a touchdown home favorite over the Cardinals, and the Patriots are road favorites over the Dolphins.

Check out the safest picks, the best prices, and the pitfall picks below. I’ll post my own picks at the end. I’ll update on Sunday after I’ve locked in my three picks for the weekend.

I have included odds for favorites in each game FanDuel.

Bengals (-10.5) over the Titans
Jaguars (-9.5) over Colts

The Titans showed life at times, but the Bengals rolled over them. The biggest question is the divisional game. Normally I’d say avoid them, but this week the Colts have the ability to take it down, so the Jaguars should upset them.

Bengals (-10.5) over the Titans

If you want to save the Bengals, your remaining options are Week 12 at home against the Saints, where they are touchdown favorites, or Week 18 at home against the Browns, who are currently eight-point favorites. There are some other options out there, and depending on how many people are left in your competition, Bengals-Titans is the pick.

The Patriots (-7) over the Dolphins
Cowboys (-7) over Cardinals

I went with the divisional competition above, but avoid road divisional games when you can. New England probably rolled over Miami, but I’d like to stay away from that.

Dallas should beat a bad Arizona team, but the Cowboys are so inconsistent, you should stay away. You can put the Cowboys as double-digit favorites for Week 11 against the Titans.

I have only one choice left. I don’t think so, so I’m going with the Bengals.
