Foster (9-1) and Asher (5-1) each scored knockouts in the opening round on Tuesday at the Meta Apex in Las Vegas. Foster won by unanimous decision, with all three judges scoring it 29-28.
Ultimate Fighting Championship CEO Dana White signed the 34-year-old.

Gregory Foster defeated Jason Asher at DWCS as Dana White wishes her hospitalized mother Barbara a speedy recovery

Foster started quickly, dropping Asher with a right hand before Asher responded with a spinning backfist that floored him. After a competitive second round, Asher took Foster down in the third and landed punches on the ground that opened a cut above Foster’s right eye.

Despite a tough final lap, Foster was thrilled with his performance.

“Overjoyed, very proud of myself, very proud of my team,” Foster said in a post-fight interview. “And I knew I was going to come here and put on an awesome show.”

He then discussed his mother, who he said was recovering in hospital after a “really bad” car accident. Foster said he was watching from his hospital room on his birthday, making the win especially meaningful.

Valge wished Foster’s mother a happy birthday and a speedy recovery when signing the contract.

“Greg, happy birthday to Barbara and I hope she gets well soon,” White said. “The pace you set tonight, the shots you took, the shots you took, you opened the show the way I like to open the show. And I’ve never been more excited to see a 34-year-old come to the UFC. Congratulations.”
