CSME sub-licenses UCL and Europa League matches from DAZN for OneSoccer

September 11: Canadian Soccer Media and Entertainment has reached a new deal with DAZN to extend access to certain Champions League and Europa League matches, particularly those featuring Canadian players, for the remainder of the 2026/27 season.

The deal will allow CSME to license select matches from DAZN to OneSoccer, giving Canadian audiences another route to UEFA’s top club competitions as the number of national team players based on top European clubs continues to grow.

DAZN has already been making select matches with Canadians available through its freemium service since December 2025. The new deal formalizes and expands this approach into the current European season.

The obvious hook is the player pool. Jonathan David is now at Atletico Madrid, Alphonso Davies remains at Bayern Munich, while Tajon Buchanan, Tani Oluwaseyi and Nathan Saliba are all at Villarreal. Alistair Johnston is in Brighton with Celtic and Promise David.

CSME sees the value in turning these individual European stories into something easier to follow for Canadian fans at home, rather than relying on fans to track different clubs and competitions separately.

James Johnson, CEO of Canada Soccer Media and Entertainment, said: “Canadian soccer is in the midst of a remarkable era, with more Canadian players than ever before competing at the highest levels of the world game.

“Through this partnership with DAZN, we are creating more opportunities for Canadian fans to follow and celebrate Canadian talent competing on some of soccer’s biggest stages. As the presence of Canadian players continues to grow across Europe, we are committed to connecting fans with the players, stories and moments that are shaping the future of Canadian soccer.”

DAZN will continue to offer select games through its freemium offering, while OneSoccer will offer licensed matches from the Champions League and Europa League chosen by Canadian participation. Highlights and supporting content will also be available during the season.
