What is Scorigami, and how many will we see in the 2026 NFL season?

In the year By the end of the 2025 season, there had been 1095 unique final scores in NFL history. With teams scoring more points in games, the extra point being converted to 33-yard kicks, and teams deciding to go for two more often to get the edge, unprecedented end results are still happening in the NFL more than 100 years after the game. These special effects are called “Scorigami”.

We’ve added two more to take the needle to 1097 unique game results in week one of the 2026 NFL season.

Most of the scorgamies were 40-of-40-plus points for both teams, but we’re also seeing scores that don’t happen in the 30s. It’s not just high scores that didn’t happen, though. For example, a game has never ended in a 2-2 draw. The NFL didn’t allow two-point conversions until 1994, and we never saw an 8-7 game. A game did not end with a score of 9-9 Still among other results out there.

How can we expect Scorigamis in 2026?

There have been three or more skogamies in every season since 1992. The average since the start of the 2000 season has been seven per year, with a high of 14 in 2013 and a low of three in 2022 and 2009.

NFL Scorigami Games in 2026

The 2026 NFL season didn’t wait for the scorigami train to roll. Over the weekend, two NFC North teams won with unprecedented results. They were the 1096th and 1097th special effects in NFL history.

The Bears beat the Panthers 59-37 in Week 1

Usually when we get Scorigami it’s because something weird happened in the game. This one was not that. The Bears just set the mood. Chicago scored 14 points in the first, third and fourth quarters, including a 17-point third quarter. These are all standard results, there were just more. We were denied a late extra point, but 59-38 never happened.

The Vikings beat the Packers 39-22 in Week 1

The Packers missed one extra point in the first quarter, but that in itself didn’t trigger many special effects. Everything stayed healthy until the fourth quarter when Minnesota took the lead. A 2-point conversion made it 25-22. Scoring 25 points in an NFL game is strange. Minnesota then added two more 7-point touchdowns on top of that. A 39-point day is rare. (The 32-22 score also never happened.)

Some srigami numbers that can be seen in 2026

  • 8-7: Someone scores a late touchdown and goes for the win, not a tie.
  • 9-9: Two fighting fouls end in a 9-9 tie, or a 6-6 game ends this way at the end of regulation.
  • 18-8: Feels like it should be taken.
  • 25-18: A few ways to get to 18 and then win a point
  • 32-22: The team that plays in the game reaches 22 and the team that keeps them reaches 32.
  • 41-41: 40-40 off the board, let’s go one more
  • 42-25: One team pushed to a three-possession game late.
  • 46-17: The lowest number compared to the more common 17.
  • 47-40: Let’s score a ton
  • 50-0: The cleanest closing number
  • 50-3: It is the lowest number compared to the most common 3.
  • 60-14: The lowest number compared to the most common 14.

How Every NFL Scorigami Happened in 2025

In the year Here’s how each got there, in order.

The Bills beat the Ravens 41-40 in Week 1

This game featured two top offenses at the height of their power, but the Bills started going for two in the third quarter and missed a series of touchdowns. In the middle of the fourth quarter, they were sitting on 25 points, which is an unusual number. A missed extra point by the Ravens put Baltimore at 40 — not an entirely unusual number in itself — before the Bills’ final push. Buffalo made it 40-38 after two touchdowns and an extra point, but failed to convert on a two-point conversion to tie the game. They got the ball back and hit a field goal to win 41-40.

The Cowboys and Packers are 40-40 in Week 4

There are still a lot of connections in this list, but not as many as you might think. The NFL had no sudden death overtime in 2011. When you add the 15-minute frame up to 1974, there was more correlation before 1974 but much less after that. In the year They changed the rules in 2010 so first there was no sudden death for field goals, then in 2017 they shortened the time to 10 minutes and in 2025 they gave each team possession of the ball. With those recent changes, ties may become more common.

Those rules changes directly affected the game between the Dallas Cowboys and the Green Bay Packers. Green Bay was guaranteed possession, and Dallas did not score after the first field goal. The Packers had just 4:40 on the clock and were deep into Dallas territory. They were tied 40-40 as time expired after failing a punt into the end zone.

The Texans beat the Jaguars 36-29 in Week 10

In the third quarter, the Jaguars were up 23-10 and scored another touchdown. At 19, the Texans knew they had to score three times to win, so they tried to build a 21-point lead to tie or score three touchdowns to win. That game didn’t work out and they led by 29 points to 19 points.

The Texans then made a two-point conversion to make it an 11-point game. Another failed two-point conversion made it a 5-point game. Up 30-29, Houston attempted another two-point conversion to make sure a late field goal didn’t beat them, but the attempt fell short with 31 seconds left on the clock.

This is where things go wrong. 30-29 points have happened before. But the Texans returned the fumble for a touchdown to make it 36-29 after a timeout. A final of 37-29 and 38-29 ensued, but with no time on the clock, there was no further point attempt, and the final stood against Scorigami.

The Bills beat the Buccaneers 44-32 in Week 11

He also scored 40 points in his second scoring game of the year for Buffalo. The Buccaneers started the shenanigans when they scored a touchdown to make it 26-21 in the third quarter. They went for two tries and won 28-21, but the conversion failed. Buffalo got to 31 the old-fashioned way, with four touchdowns and PATs and a field goal, and the score was 31-26. After another touchdown, the Buckeyes tied the score at 32 and tried to take a three-point lead with another two-point conversion. Buffalo won 37-32, missing a two-point field goal attempt to make it a seven-point game. The Bills’ last touchdown of the game led 43-32 and Buffalo pushed it to 44-32 with an extra point with 2:35 left.
