Kike Perez scored a stunning winner to help Venice to move at the bottom of Serie A as they jumped Udinese with a 2-1 home win.
Udinese have been a mainstay in Serie A since their promotion to the top flight in 1995. However, they appear to be in significant danger of relegation this season.
In fact, I Friulani are now bottom of the table after their latest defeat, which was their eighth of the season.
Venezia took the lead eight minutes into the second half when Toma Basic headed home, only for Matias Moreno’s goal to equalise.
However, Perez sealed the points for Venezia in style, his effort from just over 20 yards curling beautifully into the top right corner.
In the Bundesliga, Borussia Monchengladbach remain at the foot of the table after a 3-1 defeat at Hamburg.
Miro Muheim’s long-range effort put Hamburg ahead, but Gladbach had hope of a positive result just before half-time when Joe Scally’s goal deflected off team-mate Robin Hack.
However, Ko Itakura’s second yellow card four minutes into the second half reduced Gladbach to 10 men, and Hamburg took the lead with goals from Shafiq Nandja and Albert Gronbaek.
Elsewhere, Sevilla and Alavés drew 0-0 in LaLiga, while Toulouse beat Strasbourg 3-1 in Ligue 1.
