September 9: Bayern Munich have signed a three-year global partnership with AI company Wonderful, further pushing to incorporate artificial intelligence into both their front office and fan operations.
Wonderful becomes Bayern’s official business AI partner and will initially work with the club on matchday customer service, with the first project planned to be an AI agent integrated into Bayern’s existing systems to deal with ticket enquiries, account issues and other urgent requests.
Last month, the club appointed Google Gemini as its first Consumer AI Partner, focusing on content, statistics and how fans interact with the club. Wonderful is positioning itself differently, working on the systems Bayern staff use behind the scenes.
It also comes at a busy time for Wonderful. The company raised $550 million last week in a Series C funding round that valued it at $5 billion, after being valued at $2 billion as recently as March.
Bayern’s board member for marketing and sales Rouven Kasper said: “At FC Bayern, we are constantly looking for new ways to improve our fans’ experience while strengthening our behind-the-scenes processes. Our partnership with Wonderful allows us to harness the potential of enterprise artificial intelligence across agents, starting with services and support for fans on match day to develop effective FC Bayern solutions to work together. standards.”
The ticketing project provides the association with an obvious first test. Bayern regularly play in front of a sold-out Allianz Arena, so even fairly common score and ticket issues can quickly turn into a major matchday service issue.
Wonderful co-founder and CEO Bar Winkler said: “Wonderful is delighted to partner with FC Bayern as it accelerates its AI business ambitions. FC Bayern sets the standard for excellence on the pitch, across the organization and now with AI. We are proud to help extend this standard at FC Bayern.”
Bayern start their Champions League campaign at home to Bodø/Glimt on Thursday night.
