Hybrids have replaced long irons for years and are now moving further into the bag. For many golfers, the 5 and 6 irons are the next to go. The other day, he asked me if they could put a 7-hybrid in the bag and I realized he didn’t even know who makes one.
Here are some companies that sell 7-hybrids.
| Brand | Model | 7H loft | Range of lineup |
|---|---|---|---|
| PING | G440 | 34° | |
| Taylor Made | Qi4D Max Rescue | 34° (right hand only) | 3H to 7H |
| Taylor Made | Qi4D Max Lite Rescue | 34° (right hand only) | 4H to 7H |
| Callaway | Quantum Max | 30° | 3H to 8H |
| Callaway | Quantum Max Fast | 31 ° | 4H to 8H |
| Title | GT1 | 29th | 4H to 7H (20°, 23°, 26°, 29°) |
What stands out
Many brands stick to the 6-hybrid. OPTM of COBRA exceeds 6H (28 degrees) like the new one from Srixon ZX and RKT and Hot launch of Tour Edge Max D. It is also important to look at the loft and how it plays in your current golf game.
Titleist’s 7H it’s 29 degrees, by Callaway they are 30 and 31 and PING and Taylor Made you are 34 years old, so if you fill a space in your bag, go to the loft.

How much is a 7-hybrid used?
If you are not sure that a hybrid 7 belongs in your bag, buying used can be the cheapest way to find out. Just know that the picking is slim. A 7-hybrid is not a common club, so you can only find a few for sale and which one depends on the hand and flex you need.
Women have more of a selection in the used department, but I’ve been looking at the lists for a few weeks and there are options coming up.
Here are two I found on 2nd Swing.
| Club | Loft | Flex | Condition | 2nd Swing price | It was |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| PING G LE 3 (right) | 34° | Women (ULT 250 Lite) | Medium | $109.99 | $229.99 |
| PING G430 (right) | 34° | Senior (ALTA Quick 35) | Medium | $219.99 | $299.99 |
How do I know if I need a 7-hybrid?
If it’s time to add a 7-hybrid to your bag, you may start to notice a few things.
- Your 8-iron and 7-iron go about the same distance.
- Your misses with the 7-iron are wider than they should be and you generally don’t have the launch and consistency you want out of the club.
This does not always mean that you need a hybrid 7. A different 7 iron, one that is more suitable for your game, could solve the same problem. It’s a conversation to have with a fitter who can help you figure out which way to go.
