November 5: Borussia Dortmund have extended their commercial partnership with Sportfive until 2034, continuing a relationship that dates back to 1999.
Sportfive will continue to acquire and manage sponsors and club partners, develop new commercial opportunities and sell hospitality at Signal Iduna Park. The deal was previously due to last until 2030-31.
“Our partnership with Sportfive has been defined by trust, reliability and an entrepreneurial mindset for many years. Together, we have continuously developed our business activities and opened up important growth opportunities,” said Dortmund CEO Carsten Cramer. “With SPORTFIVE, we have a partner by our side who understands our ambitions and supports us in further developing Borussia Dortmund both domestically and internationally.”
Hendrik Schiphorst, CEO of Sportfive Germany, said: “Borussia Dortmund is one of the most recognizable and distinctive football brands in Europe. The early extension until 2034 is a strong endorsement of the quality of our partnership and, at the same time, an incentive to continue following our shared growth trajectory.”
The two will focus on growing existing partnerships, opening up new areas of business, new forms of activation and building Dortmund’s international profile.
Few clubs have maintained a commercial agency for so long. A quarter-century relationship is rare in an industry where clubs regularly switch agencies or sell in-house.
Dortmund have signed or extended a number of partners this autumn, including Panasonic Heating & Cooling Solutions, Adesso, Freedom2hear and Sportradar, which is investigating potential sponsors for the club.
