Earlier this year, multiple WWE stars left the company within months of having either released or allowing their contracts to expire. As revealed “Insight with Chris Van Vliet” exits left current WWE NXT Champion Grayson Waller feeling like the writing was on the wall for his time in the promotion.
“I could feel it. “Especially when The New Day left, I could feel it,” he recalled. Waller mentioned that right after former Kofi Kingston and Xavier Woods parted ways with WWE, he was injured in a clash with Oba Femi that put him on the shelf for about a month. “I was like, ‘Not a great position and I’m smart enough to know.’
Regardless of his situation, Waller believed he still offered great value to WWE and decided he couldn’t just sit back and wait for his release while his dream faded. “It would make me sad if I didn’t do something,” he added, also stating that he will never stop proving himself to WWE.
Instead of leaving, Walters returned to NXT, capturing the brand’s main title in August. He has since successfully defended the belt against EK Prosper, Tony D’Angelo and even CM Punk.
