TNA Impact 9/10/2026: 3 Things We Hated & 3 Things We Loved

Two of TNA’s top titles were on the line tonight on Impact, while the company also continued to build various storylines heading into Bound For Glory 2026. With such a busy show, our crew had no problem finding things to love and things to hate.

Below you’ll find our thoughts on the current Avery Styles storyline, some positive developments in the knockout department, and Moose’s decision to put his career on the line to beat Frankie Ghazarian. Is former World Champion Moose willing to put his entire TNA Wrestling career on the line for a simple rematch against Frankie Ghazarian?

I can understand Moose wanting a rematch against the self-proclaimed “King of TNA,” especially after he inadvertently allowed Ghazarian to win their Escape The Cage match at Lockdown. Is it really worth risking his job (in history)?

To me, the conditions for this upcoming match seem quite extreme and unbalanced. As far as we know at this point, no additional stipulations have been added to it, such as a steel cage, disqualification, or even Ghazarian’s newly minted crown, meaning the stakes are high for only one person, and that’s Moose. If Ghazarian wins, he will get bragging rights as he will send Moussa, a ten-year veteran of the company, out of TNA. If he loses, he doesn’t really lose anything. at worst, the score of their last dispute will be tied and likely to result in a rubber match.

Even more puzzling is the fact that the implications of this career came out of nowhere. We know that Moose signed a five-year deal through 2023which means that he had to stay there for at least two years. The timing just doesn’t fit.

I’m all for coining career as a catch-all term when it fits the story around it. However, this Ghazarian-mush story, as it stands, still doesn’t seem juicy enough to warrant that.

After Lockdown aired a few weeks ago, I wrote a love piece about Elaina Black’s performance in her Knockouts World Title challenge against Xia Brookside. And this week I’m giving her another love. Well, not just her, but her match tonight with Heather by Elegance.

Black and Heather got into a fight. I love that there was no BS, it was straight to the point wrestling. Both women looked fantastic with their calls and responses. There wasn’t much buzz from The Elegance Brand tonight, which was a breath of fresh air for a change. Black’s gut wrench suplex was crisp. I am glad that he won this competition.

I felt like tonight’s opening contest took me back to a time when The Beautiful People roamed the Impact Zone, and I couldn’t help but smile a little. As we know, TNA has changed their formula for how they run their promotion now. A lot has been exposed. However, his streak hasn’t changed as the knockout division is actually dominant. Whether it’s from the Pretty People era to now, women are still killing it every Thursday night. You go, girls.

I’ve said it here before, but I’ll say it again. Avery Styles’ first official wrestling storyline was promising. After all, with his father, AJ, retired from in-ring competition, Avery’s next best TNA promotion companion is someone who knows his father very well, Frankie Ghazarian.

In theory, leaning on Avery Ghazarian for his first steps in TNA should work. Ghazarian knows the locker room and wrestling inside and out. Furthermore, Ghazarian can build on his history as Styles and do more with this new generation. The execution, however, was far from successful.

Last week. Avery just stood in the background while Ghazarian argued with Moose. This week, he did the same thing, only in a different setting. Even as the crowd chanted his name, the second-generation star didn’t get a chance to say a word during the “King’s Speech” segment.

So far, Avery hasn’t made the best first impression, especially for someone associated with one of pro wrestling’s all-time greats. To be fair, though, it’s hard to make any kind of impression if there are no opportunities to wrestle or even talk.

As a regular TNA watcher, I’m eager to get to know young Styles and see what he can bring to the table. Does he have the same qualities as Phenomenal? Will he show anything else? Or maybe a mix of both. Fingers crossed we can find out the answer to these questions sooner rather than later.

It might not be the smartest thing for Daria Rae to choose Gabby Forza as the new World Knockouts Championship contender to deny Indy Hartwell a title shot in the context of their history, seeing as she’s a heel manager who probably should have given another heel a chance she wanted to help. Negatives aside, it was still fantastic to see Forza get some TV time to get some exposure from his TNA fan base.

I haven’t been very familiar with Forza’s full body of work in the independent scene and have seen a very limited number of his TNA matches so far, but I thought he really excelled in this match. He came out looking good despite the loss, as Brookside hit him with the Knockouts World Championship belt as a way to not weaken him too much in the early stages of his TNA career.

It’s really hard not to like Forza’s bubbly attitude and personality as a little dwarf, and injecting a little fun into a show that needed some of it. She showed what she can do between the ropes, making the most of the short amount of time she and Sia Brookside got for their Knockouts World Championship match.

While Mustafa Ali is out, Jason Hotch remains to continue his feud with Ali’s proxies in the Fourth Order. But with Mila Moore and Tasha Stills in a different division, and John Skyler very specifically not wanting to wrestle his best friend and former tag team partner, that left him slow and tough with Special Agent Zero. A character who is supposed to be a black hole for any and all thrills that ever come between the ropes.

Then how did they decide to spice it up? It was a special guest referee, and that referee was Mila Moore. Moore was the latest member to join the Fourth Order, brought in by Ali to the chagrin of Tasha Stills, and unlike the others, she has zero loyalty to Hotch. So that match went as expected, not too bad.

Until Moore got impatient and tried to take down Hotch, pulling Steels into the ring for a showdown between them. Stills then put on the referee’s jersey and quickly counted three before calling for the bell. It didn’t ring, despite her gesturing for it to a few more times, and she and Hotch retreated to the back to approach the section.

What a mess and a waste of time. There is such a lack of imagination when it comes to trying to maintain plots in this program that it’s nauseating. With Ali on the shelf, it’s understandable why the feud isn’t continuing as originally planned. But this is not an acceptable substitute for it.

This was purely to fill a hole and check a box of the week, as it did nothing to advance the plot anyway. It made no difference to Hotch. In fact, it made him look foolish for celebrating, as if he actually thought he had accomplished something. It made Zero continue to look worse. Moore and Stills are cast as cats, and they deserve better than that. All in all, it was such a stupid way to end the game.

After a two-week feud, Matt Hardy finally got a shot at Nick Nemeth’s TNA World Heavyweight Championship on tonight’s show. While Hardy didn’t walk away with the win, fans were treated to quite an entertaining main event featuring two industry veterans, one of whom may only have a handful of singles titles left in his career.

TNA’s creative department made the right call by attaching a no-disqualification clause here, as it allowed them to play to Hardy’s strengths and hide some of his weaknesses. Unsurprisingly, Nemeth took the brunt of the damage here, but with the help of his brother Ryan, he was still able to put Hardy away in the end.

It’s still fun to see Hardy in the ring at 51 with more than three decades of wrestling under his belt. He may not move like he used to, but no one can realistically say the man doesn’t know how to pick a match. Also, it will be fun to see Matt turn heel when it inevitably turns out that Ryan was right and Matt is the mystery assailant behind the attack on Jeff, Leon Slater and the others.
