According to Garcia, Ritt signed a training camp contract that indicates the deal is non-guaranteed and contains the language of Addendum 9 and/or Addendum 10. The Addendum 9 language is the more important of the two for the Suns to be protected if Ritt is injured in camp.
The 6-foot-9 Rith, from South Sudan, will be in contention for a roster spot this fall after Mark Williams‘ shoulder surgery. Ritt has spent each of the last three seasons in the league, playing in 146 games for Portland over that span, averaging 6.2 points and 2.6 rebounds in 13.3 minutes per game.
The 30-year-old averaged just 8.1 mpg in 32 games for the Trail Blazers last season, a victim of the team’s improved frontcourt depth before he went season-ending foot surgery in January. Ritt has been a free agent since February when he was traded to Atlanta and then waived.
Phoenix also signed Philip Wheeler and Kennedy Chandler to Friday’s training camp trades, Garcia adds (via Twitter). Chandler, a former second-round pick, played 11 games for the Jazz last season, while Wheeler appeared in six games for Philadelphia during the 2024-25 campaign.
