With dozens of new players entering the NBA each season as part of this year’s rookie class, there isn’t enough roster space for all the veterans who become free agents in a given offseason.
Some of those vets left on the outside will retire. But many NBA free agents looking for work accept opportunities in other parts of the world, signing with a team that plays in one of the many professional basketball leagues in Europe, Asia, Australia or South America.
Listed below are players who finished last season on an NBA roster and have since signed contracts overseas with non-NBA (and non-G-League) clubs.
As this list focuses solely on players who are out of contract with an NBA team through the 2025/26 season, there are some notable names who have moved overseas in recent months but are not included.
for example Dario Sarich spent most of a decade in the league before being waived by the Pistons in February. He signed for Anadolu Efes in Turkey this offseason, but since he was a free agent for the second half of the 2025/26 season and did not complete the year with an NBA team, he is not listed below. Cole Anthonywhich was canceled in February and then joined Melbourne United is another player who falls into that category this summer.
There may still be players who finalize deals with foreign teams in the coming days or weeks, but do not appear here. For example, a big man Kelly Olynyk there is said to be is on the verge of signing with BC Roma, but since he and the Italian team have yet to officially close a deal, we don’t necessarily assume that will be done and won’t list Olynyk below.
