The Heat made several small transactions Thursday night, according to Anthony Chang of The Miami Herald (Twitter references). After the rejection Lester Quinones and J’Von HadleyHeath signed and promptly backed out Dennis Smith Jrthen signed Gabe Madsen and Kyler Kelly.
All five players are/were included Exhibition 10 contracts and could eventually head to the Sioux Falls Skyforce to earn a playing bonus for Miami’s G-League team.
Smith’s deal with Miami was reported earlier. However, it appears that the seven-year NBA veteran will not get a tryout with the Heat, Chang notes.
Madsen, a 6-foot-6 wing who went undrafted out of Utah last year, was a regular for the Skyforce last season, averaging 9.7 points, 4.7 rebounds, 2.6 assists and 1.2 steals on .452/.387/.741 shooting in 50 games (28.4 mpg).
Kelly, a shot-blocking center who spent time with the Mavericks and Pelicans during the 2024-25 campaign, went undrafted in 2020 and bounced around the next few years playing in the G League, Denmark, England and non-NBA leagues in Canada and the United States. He played in the NBAGL and in the Philippines last season.
Both Madsen and Kelly are expected to participate in Friday’s practice, Chung added.
The Networks also made an addition to their preseason roster, tweets Brian Lewis of The New York Post officially signed on Dion Brown.
Lewis reported back in June, shortly after Brown went undrafted, that the 6-foot-3 guard would sign a deal with Brooklyn on the Supplement 10. As a senior with St.Louis last season, Brown averaged 11.3 ppg and 5.4 ppg on 23.7 mpg as the primary starter. He previously attended UMBC and Boston College before finishing his college career with the Billikens.
