During “WWE Raw”, Ethan Page defeated Chad Gable to become the Intercontinental Champion.
Gable started the match strong, immediately firing in for a successful takedown and taking control from there. But he soon found his neck targeted, neutralizing and holding him down.
Gable found his way back into the match with a three count, each for a near fall, but was quickly brought back with a big boot to give Page a near fall. Paige went straight back for the neckbreaker, but Gable dropped her with a side leg sweep, pulling her legs out of the ring and a right into the ring post.
Gable returned to the ring and continued to kick the leg, following up with a pair of dragon flips and a German suplex to start the streak. Paige ripped off the turnbuckle as Gable looked to follow up with a suplex series, but fell victim to an ankle lock in the process.
Paige made it to the ropes and rolled out of the ring, but Gable followed and hit an Olympic Slam on the announcer’s table. She rolled Paige back into the ring and did a moonsault, going for what appeared to be the winning cover before the start.
Paige turned the tide after slamming Gable’s face into the barricade and powerlifting him into the timekeeper’s area. Gable looked to get the win after Chaos Theory in the ring, but a neck injury forced him to break up the bridge cover at two.
Edge hit the Twisted Grin, but Gable still survived, fighting back for another ankle lock. Paige kicked Gable out of the turnbuckle and into an open turnbuckle before connecting with the Ego-Plex for the winning pinfall.
Gable was making his fifth title defense by dethroning Penta for it at SummerSlam in August. This is Paige’s first title shot on the main roster.
