At Hoops Rumors, we track just about every type of transaction, including signing free agents, trades, extension of contractsand much more. One form of roster transfer that has become more common in recent years is the two-way conversion, which involves moving a player from an Annex 10 contract to a two-way deal or from a two-way deal to his team’s standard roster.
We are going to use the space below to track all two-way conversions (to or from the standard list) made in 2026/27.
Place 10 contracts on two-way contracts:
If a player signs a contract in the off-season including Exhibition 10 language, he gives his new team the option to unilaterally turn their deal into a two-way contract. The deadline for the conversion of such a deal is a day before the start of the season – this year it was Monday, October 19.
A player signing a training camp contract doesn’t do turn on Appendix 10, the tongue can still sign a two-way deal with his club as long as his camp contract does not include a guarantee in excess of $91,000. However, he would have to clear a waiver before signing a new bilateral contract.
Here are the players whose Schedule 10 contracts have been converted to two-way deals in 2026/27:
With the exception of Smith, who was promoted in September, those players were invited to training camp on Schedule 10 contracts and eventually earned two-way slots based on their camp and preseason performances. Some battled with other camp invitees for an open two-way spot, while others won a spot that was technically unavailable, forcing their teams to waive players previously signed to a two-way contract.
No additional names will be added to this list until the end of the 2026/27 season, as players cannot be transferred on two-way deals after the start of the regular season.
Bilateral contracts to standard contracts:
A player on a two-way contract can have his deal unilaterally converted to a one-year, minimum-salary contract by his team (or a two-year, minimum-salary contract if the player’s two-way agreement spans two years, although this is rare).
However, a team usually prefers to sign a player to a longer-term contract to avoid him becoming a free agent at the end of the season.
When moving a player from a two-way contract to a standard roster, a team can use cap room or the mid-level non-taxpayer exception to make the deal up to four years; exclusion of the room in the transaction for up to three years; or the middle-level taxpayer exemption, biannual exemption, or minimum salary exemption for a two-year deal.
For any contract that exceeds the minimum value or exceeds the number of years remaining on a player’s two-way pact, the player must agree to the terms—a team cannot unilaterally complete such a deal.
Here are the players who have been transferred from two-way deals to standard contracts so far in 2026/27, along with the terms of their new contracts in chronological order:
- Jaden Bradley (Predators): Four years, $9,264,648 (history). The first year is guaranteed. Second and third years are not guaranteed. Fourth-year team option. Signed using the mid-level non-taxpayer exemption.
Players on two-way contracts can be moved to standard deals until the last day of the regular season, so this list will continue to grow until April 11th.
