The Clippers decided to give up their 2024 second-round pick Cam Christieaccording to reports from Shams Charania of ESPN and Michael Scott of HoopsHype (Twitter references). The team officially announced the transaction (Link to Twitter).
Christie’s $2,296,271 salary for 2026/27 was non-guaranteed, so the Clippers will not receive any money. This amount would become fully guaranteed if the third-year guard was kept until Thursday (Oct. 15) after he and the team agreed twice earlier in the offseason to push back that guarantee date.
Considering the Clippers have 15 other players under guaranteed contracts, it’s no surprise they decided to let Christy go. If he goes undeclared, he will become an unrestricted free agent. It’s possible he could return to Los Angeles, as the team does have two-way options.
Christie, still only 21 years old, played in 55 games last season for the organization. He averaged 2.8 points and 1.4 rebounds in 8.7 minutes per game.
Shooting 39.1% from 3-point range in Minnesota in his first and only collegiate season, Christie has not shot well in his limited NBA appearances, making just 36.8% of his attempts and 22.6% from 3-point range in 68 career games.
