KANSAS CITY, Mo. – Kansas City Chiefs rookie cornerback Mansur Delaney suffered a right shoulder injury Monday night against the Broncos. He appeared hurt after taking off following an interception on Denver’s first offensive drive Monday.
Delaney, the No. 6 pick in April’s draft, was a wild card entering the season after missing a lot of reps on the field in training camp with a right shoulder injury during June OTAs. Defensive coordinator Steve Spagnolo sees those camp experiences as extremely valuable, so it was a bit of a concern that Delaney went all out with the Chiefs in the final week of camp.
Still, Delane returned with confidence. He played with physicality and poise during the two preseason games, then finished the Chiefs’ first defensive possession Monday with his first career interception.
Delaney was initially listed as questionable, but was ruled out shortly after the break.
Linebacker Cooper McDonald is out with a knee injury.
