Here’s more from the Central Division:
- The Pistons try to put the ball in the hands Ausar Thompson and Jalen Duren more often this season, partly for prevention Cade Cunningham from wear and tear, according to By Amari Sankofa II of the Detroit Free Press. “Just takes the pressure off,” coh J. Bickerstaff said. “Teams think they just want to wear Cade down. They want to pick him up, they want to double-team him, they want to be physical with him. It makes a huge difference when sometimes you just have to run to the corner without worrying about being double-teamed or going full court or tackling. It just might allow him to be fresher and again, it’s a different look when all 10 eyes are on you and not on you. when you get a chance to go up high and then come back and play, it gives you advantages to come off screens and things like that earlier, too.”
- The Pistons purchased in advance Taurian prince in a trade with the Bucks this offseason. Prince may not have a rotation spot, but his veteran leadership was a plus in training camp, By Coty M. Davis of the Detroit News writes. “He’s a pro. He’s a veteran. He’s one of our loudest guys. I love watching him because he’s always grabbing the young guys and talking to them.” Bickerstaff said. “It’s great to have a veteran that can do that and can make plays. He can make shots. Defensively, he sacrifices his body. Those are things that can set the tone. It’s great to have veterans that can do that.”
- Injuries accumulate in the bulls front area and trainer Tiago Splitter concerned, art Alice Hirsch of the Chicago Sun Times writes. Two centers of Bulls, Zach Collins (square) and Nick Claxton (hamstring), did not participate in the training. now Jalen Smith dealing with pain in left leg. “It’s worrying,” said Splitter. “I have to be honest with you. We have to be careful with their minutes throughout the season. We probably have to have a line of three people every night at (downtown). That’s a little bit of what the league demands as well, the way the league plays — physical, fast. Sometimes a 7-foot case can’t play for 35 minutes, so you have to split those minutes with three big men running back and forth.”
