The Bykov have officially published a press release announcing Tiago Splittercoaching staff before his first year on the job. The group includes a young man who has just retired That Gibsonwhose role as an assistant coach in Chicago was reported earlier in the day.
In particular, Wes Unseld Jrwho has been an assistant with the Bulls for the past two seasons Billy Donovan and interviewed for the team’s head coaching job this spring, returns for his third season in Chicago and will join Splitter’s staff. A veteran assistant who has worked with NBA teams for the past two-plus decades, Unseld was the Wizards’ head coach from 2021-24.
While Unseld is the only Bulls assistant with previous head coaching experience, Splitter has several experienced coaches on his staff, including Rex Kalamian, Jamel McMillan, Yona Herskuand Blake Ahern.
Kolomian has worked for eight different teams since 1995 and was most recently at Milwaukee State under Doc Rivers. Macmillan, son Nate McMillinspent the past three years coaching Motor City Cruise, the Pistons’ G-League affiliate, after stints as an assistant with the Hawks, Pelicans and Suns.
Herscu, a former Lakers and Kings assistant, was in Portland with Splitter as an assistant and also coached Rip City Remix in the G League last season. Ahern, a former NBA guard, coached the G League Spurs from 2017-2020 and was an assistant with the Grizzlies Taylor Jenkins from 2020-24
Another notable addition to the Bulls staff is a former Knicks assistant Jordan Brinkwho will also serve as director of player development. As we noted when Brink moved from New York to Chicago reported for the first time he was largely responsible for initiating the Knicks coaching calls last month and was is counted for the team’s best test success rate in the league in the 2024/25 season.
The following staff members have also been promoted, hired or retained in their roles from last season and will be part of the Splitter staff in 2026/27:
