After the Bears beat the Eagles on Monday night with third-string quarterback Case Keenum, Chicago coach Ben Johnson another cheeky remark regarding Lions quarterback Jared Goff’s lack of mobility.
Appearing on the St. Brown with teammate Amon-Ra and his brother Equanimeous, Goff said he had already heard from Johnson.
“Benny can’t seem to get out of his way when he’s talking to the media,” Goff said. “So I know there was no ill intent about it. But, you know, he seems to be a lightning rod for them. They get everything he says. It’s funny. He texted or called me this morning and said, ‘Duke, you know this doesn’t mean anything.’ I say, ‘Yeah, dude, you’re good. Don’t worry about it.”
It was the second time Johnson made a comment about Goff’s lack of speed and agility. This time, a double smile from Johnson as the question was being asked suggested he put the remark through the filter and decided to allow it if it flew.
And Goff has understood the rules of engagement. He said he will now have to think of something he can say that will be perceived as a jab at Johnson. Goff added that after he says it, he’ll call Johnson and say he was just kidding.
