October 27: Atlético de Madrid has launched a new official mobile app, developed with technology company Veritran, which brings together ticketing, season ticket management, merchandising and stadium tours on a single platform.
Member Addition is a digital season ticket transfer, which allows members to transfer their tickets through the app. Existing tools remain, such as stadium entry via QR code or NFC wallet and the option to free up seats for matches where a season ticket holder cannot attend.
Fans can also purchase match tickets, shop in the Atleti Shop and book the Atleti Tour & Museum, along with club news and match information.
Until now, these services were located in different parts of the club’s digital setup. Bringing them together gives Atlético a single point of contact with supporters for its main direct-to-consumer revenues: ticketing, retail and stadium tourism.
The transfer of season tickets is a practical step that clubs in Europe have been slow to offer. Allowing members to officially pass tickets keeps seats occupied, reduces unofficial reselling and gives the club better data on who is actually attending.
The launch follows a period of significant change at Atlético. Apollo bought a majority stake in the club earlier this year and NBA star Shai Gilgeous-Alexander became a shareholder this month. Strengthening the club’s digital relationship with supporters, and the revenue that comes from it, fits the type of growth that investors will be looking for.
It also reflects movements elsewhere. Fulham relaunched its website and app last week, combining content, subscription video and commercial services in one place as clubs push to own the relationship with fans rather than relying on third-party platforms.
The app is now available for followers.
