According to a new report, a major name behind the scenes of WWE is set to leave the company after WWE WrestleMania 43 next year. PWInsider reported Tuesday that Bruce Pritchard, executive director of creative writing and talent, is set to step down from his role with WWE after next year’s Showcase of the Immortals, multiple sources have confirmed.
According to PWInsider, Pritchard will remain with WWE after stepping down from his current position as a consultant. The source said that while Pritchard’s current run with the company is rumored to end at WrestleMania, things can always change, as can the nature of the industry.
Pritchard began his professional wrestling career at just 10 years old, starting in 1973 selling posters for Paul Bosh’s Houston Wrestling. He began working for the then-WWFW in 1987, occasionally as an announcer, before developing his Brother Love gimmick.
He was released from the company after the character was retired in early 1991, but would return in August 1992 as Vince McMahon’s “right hand man” backstageas well as a writer, in addition to returning to a new screen character. He was released once again in 2008 and worked in TNA and MLW until his eventual return to the company in 2019 when he joined the WWE creative team.
Prichard has held the position since June 2020 Executive Director of WWE Raw and WWE SmackDown. According to the PWI report, the WWE NXT writers are also believed to fall under Pritchard’s direction. The paper also reports that there is currently no word on who will take over Pritchard’s current role when he leaves the company.
