He refused to describe the cut as a betrayal by the sport. “I’ve never really been idle, nor have I put down tennis because it hurts,” he said. “On the contrary, I have always worked hard, in the gym, on the court, with physios. Patience is the right word for this period.”
The closest he came to explaining the length of his recovery was the defense of stopping rather than rushing back. “Injuries are a part of sports, you have to be smart and understand how much and when to play,” Siner said. “You need a long-term vision. Only today is gone. You sow now, but the harvest comes in its season. And it’s always the work, the preparation you do, that makes the difference, not luck. Luck helps you score, not the game.”
Six Kings are back?
That long-term logic cost him the rest of 2026, including his ATP Finals title defense and the world No. 1 ranking he held at the time.
Sinner has not played since defeating Alexander Zverev to defend his Wimbledon title on July 12. He described the past months as closer to normal life than crisis. “I didn’t do anything extraordinary,” he said. “I went to Monza for F1 and Milan for the Gucci show, played a bit more on PlayStation and started reading a 600-page book, i kill by Giorgio Falletti,” in the 2002 Monte Carlo thriller.
The interview had no return date. It was confirmed separately, one day ago. Sinner will return at the Six Kings Slam exhibition in Riyadh on December 27-30.
Reported The TimesUnconfirmed by his team, it also states that Magnus Norman joins as coach alongside Simone Vagnosi in place of Darren Cahill.
