Meanwhile, earlier this week it was confirmed that Dragon Lee will remain with WWE after signing an extensionother details were more difficult to find out. The length of Lee’s new contract was a point of particular debate, with some suggesting it was for at least five years, although no one could get confirmation. That changed this morning when Dave Meltzer revealed “Wrestling Observer Radio” that Lee would remain in place for the next half-decade, barring release.
“I can confirm it’s been five years,” Meltzer said. “I’ve seen people assume that and everything, but I actually got it confirmed. It’s a five-year contract. So yeah, he’s signed to WWE.”
The topic then turned to Lee’s brother, AEW’s Dralistico, who caused quite a stir earlier this week when he posted a photo of himself in prison AI, leading many to speculate that he was looking to leave AEW and possibly join Lee in WWE. Meltzer confirmed Co-host Brian Alvarez previously reported that the Dralistico deal was completed in December and that there was some belief in the industry that Dralistico wanted out. At the same time, however, Meltzer noted that he has received information that suggests Dralistico’s painting had a different purpose than the one many have been interpreting.
“I know from AEW’s perspective that they (believe that) they (WWE) are going to make him an offer,” Meltzer said. “(But) I was told by people close to him that with the bars and everything, it was about the visa. It’s not because he can’t wait to leave like Phoenix.
