Clippers the wing Max Strus seasoned partial tear of plantar fascia in right foot during Sunday’s preseason opener and will be revised in four weeks, tweets team reporter Ohm Youngmisuk.
In addition to missing the rest of the preseason, Strus is also slated to stand out early in the regular season. In exactly four weeks on Nov. 2, Los Angeles hosts Toronto in its seventh game of the 2026/27 regular season.
It’s a tough blow for Strauss, who missed most of last season recovering from Jones’ fractured left foot that required surgery in August 2025. He didn’t make his 2025/26 debut until mid-March, playing in 12 regular-season games and playing in all 18 of Cleveland’s playoff games last spring.
Los Angeles sent a future second-round pick to Washington to acquire Strauss from the Cavaliers in a five-team trade. The Clippers used theirs John Collins trade exception to take on the Ostrus’ $16.7 million cap hit without sending a player in return (they also sent the Cavs a draft pick Ishmael Kamagateformer second circle).
Strass, 30, has been a key rotation player for the Cavs when healthy and played a similar role in Miami for several seasons before that. In three years with Cleveland, he averaged 11.0 points, 4.7 rebounds and 3.5 assists on .428/.368/.800 shooting in 132 regular season contests, including 112 starts (28.8 minutes per game).
Strus’ contract, which is eligible for extension until June 30, 2027, expires. He started Sunday’s preseason game against Golden State and was hurt non-contact injuries in the first quarter the final victory.
with Strus, Jordan Miller (surgery on the left shoulder) and Brandon Ingram (partially torn Achilles) aside, the Clippers are a little thin on the wing. Keaton Wagler, Bradley Beal and Grady Dick are among the candidates for more playing time in the short term.
