John Cena via post-retirement check out WWE Saturday Night’s Main Event In December, “Career Killer” Gunther continued retire AJ Styles at the 2026 Royal Rumble at the same venue. Still, the star didn’t have much to do as Oba Femi was scheduled to wrestle Brock Lesnar in his career-ending match. However, in recent months, Gunther has found himself in the picture for the Undisputed WWE Championship on WWE SmackDown.
On”Destroyed open radioCena commented on the perception that WWE broke Gunther’s momentum after his huge win at SNME. The Never Seen 17 said that while he helped bring the Ring General to an end, what he followed WWE with was up to them.
“I know there’s a feeling out there that, ‘Man, they’re wasting GUNTER,'” Cena said. “Perhaps they are currently. But I don’t see the view from the penthouse. I’m not in meetings where they’re just looking at the white board, connecting the dots… What I’m going to do is I’m not going to challenge people like that. That’s the job I have to do today and we’re going to make him look his best and I’m going to give him as much steam as I can and what you do after that is not my call.”
Cena once again defended their SNME game endingwhere he, the star who always told fans to “never give up,” stepped out. He said it was a “great way” to end his character’s trajectory, and to this day people are still talking about it.
