NFL winners and losers: Nick Sirianni sucks

The Philadelphia Eagles’ loss to the Rams in Week 4 doesn’t look that bad in isolation. It was a narrow loss against a good team, the defense performed and at first glance you could mistake the game for a bad break. Dig a little deeper and you’ll see that Philadelphia simply isn’t doing right with its roster talent. When that happens, they follow the flow chart to the top, and the price stops at Nick Siriani.

Siriani has had Teflon for several years, because that’s what happened when she won the Super Bowl. I caught him a lot With Eagles fans criticizing Siriani ever since, it suggests that perhaps the win was more a result of the facilitators than Siriani’s brilliance, and suggests that the man at the top may not be the football genius he claims to be.

The offense is a big problem for the Eagles. It’s been an issue not just this season, but the last 21 games. In the year It was awful all season in 2025, and it’s been equally awful this year. In the year When Stechen left the Eagles after the 2022 season, the team ranked 3rd in yards and points scored, dropping to 7th and 8th, respectively, the following year – which they did for two years. Then came the precipice, where Philadelphia fell to 19th and 24th last season and are now 25th and 24th in yards scored. Siriani keeps rearranging the deckchairs on the attacking Titanic, but the result is the same.

On Sunday, they were 0-for-12 in the third down, 1-for-4 in the fourth. That’s a systemic failure in coaching, and it’s a big problem when your starting quarterback can only complete 12 passes for 93 yards in a defense without Myles Garrett or Aaron Donald.

There are countless issues with the Eagles offense right now. Jalen Hurts seems afraid to use his legs to gain yards, which is either an internal issue with the QB – or something the team has coached. Because of this, you have a career-defining quarterback who combines his ability to combine the threats of his hands and his feet, but taking out half of his threats makes him a mediocre player.

This is exacerbated by the fact that Saquon Barkley is injured. We don’t know the severity of the injury at this point, but even a few missed games will be a big problem at the plate with the Jaguars, Panthers and Cowboys — three teams whose offenses will put pressure on Philadelphia to match them. Those are three teams the team should easily beat, but so are the Titans and Chiefs – with the Eagles struggling to win one-possession games against both.

Siriani’s hot seat is real, or at least it should be. This team has gone through offensive coordinators since winning the Super Bowl. This will have to come back to Siriani at some point, and it’s fair to ask if he can control the offensive side of the ball. One of the best things about the Eagles at the top level is that they don’t find their identity, their strengths, and their strengths outside of that clause. Lately, it’s felt like Philadelphia is forcing its way. want Being, instead of accepting who they are now – and playing to those strengths.

It’s a strange situation, because Siriani actually has a lot of amazing features. He’s a great motivator, has developed a more scarred locker room culture, but needs someone to help with the tactical elements of the game. It’s not that Siriani is incompetent, it’s that he seems to be an underwater coach now, trying to do too much at once. If he doesn’t find a way to swim soon enough, he’ll drown this entire season.

before Sunday night football Bryce Young was the NFL’s statistically leading passer, but he felt a bit like fool’s gold. With the eyes of the nation on the Panthers’ diminutive QB, he had the best game of his career with an impenetrable performance in the pocket that dismantled a hapless Lions defense.

This was the culmination of everything that had led up to this point. Young struggled early with terrible coaching and the loss of a quality receiver in his rookie season. At the beginning of his second year, he was benched to rebuild the KB. Now the resurrection has happened, and the youth has become incredible. Not only is he the league’s best depth player, but his distribution skills are now second to none in the league. This Panthers team has major problems on the offensive line, and even without 2 and 3 receivers on Sunday night, Young still managed to finish with 329 yards and 2 TDs.

It’s Bryce’s world, and we live in it.

Loser: Houston Texans

It’s the NFL equivalent of Sunday dinner, because they’re getting cooked every week. Sitting at 0-4, the playoff window is quickly closing, and the team has turned itself into a bleak legacy from a year ago. In the year In 2025, this was an organization with a very good defense and an offense that couldn’t help enough. Now the offense is not a concern, because the defense is fully responsible.

Against the Cowboys, the Texans gave up 399 yards of total offense and had no answer for C.D. Lamb, who finished with 17 receptions for 189 yards and a TD. Giving up an impressive 28 first downs, the Texans allowed Dallas to dominate possessions and ensure the Texans didn’t have enough opportunities.

Things are deeply, deeply wrong with this Texans team. They dropped some games they should have easily won in the first part of their schedule and now they are hitting a very shaky stretch before their bye. They should sweep the Titans without too much trouble, but even the Jaguars and Giants are a different story now. This team could very well go 1-6 going into the bye week, completely dooming their playoff hopes.

DiMeco Ryan doesn’t seem to have an answer to stop the bleeding. The tremors are fully felt against Houston, and they look miles away from the Jaguars and Colts atop the AFC South.

Another week, another 49ers win. It would be easy to underestimate the Broncos hitting without Patrick Certain Jr., but in the end, San Francisco didn’t have many players who could impact the game.

Shani I backed him to win Coach of the Year in 2025 for how he manages his team through injuries, and that same thing is happening one more time. The 49ers have no quits, and are putting together something special for once. This team is so good that one site can’t stop them…almost. We’ll have to see what happens over the next few weeks.

Who are your picks for the big winners and losers of week four?
