The John Cena Classic goes to Disneyworldas its creator John Cena announced during “WWE Raw”. But that’s not the only thing coming to the world-famous theme park, as WWE has decided to hold another event alongside the Cena Classic, which will be cut short with a big movie. In a press release Tuesday morningWWE announced that the Worlds Collide special event will take place on December 15th, the day after the John Cena Classic, and will have an “Avengers’ Judgment Day” theme, just days before the Marvel Cinematic Universe movie’s release on December 18th.
Like the John Cena Classic, Worlds Collide will take place at the ESPN Wide World of Sports complex. The partnership between WWE and Disney/Marvel was described as “combining the companies’ popular stories to create a landmark crossover event for Disney and WWE fans.” While that hints at potential Marvel characters, further details suggest Worlds Collide will follow suit past Worlds Collide specialsfeaturing talent from WWE, โNXTโ and AAA.
In addition to Worlds Collide and the John Cena Classic, WWE will have a further presence that weekend by staging WWE World, in association with Fanatics, also at the ESPN Wide World of Sports Complex. Fans will be able to purchase “exclusive merchandise” as well as photo and autograph opportunities with select WWE stars. To drive the “Avengers” crossover, WWE World will also produce “co-branded” WWE/”Avengers” merchandise, including title belts. Such merchandise will also be available at WWEShop and select Disney retailers. No pricing details available.
