Harry Kane signs record-breaking deal at Bayern Munich and admits “this is the best time of my life”

Harry Kane He is currently enjoying “the best time of my life” after signing a lucrative new contract with Bayern Munich.

The deal had been in the works for some time but was announced on Thursday morning with Kane agreeing to stay at the Allianz Arena until 2029.

A wonderful fortnight ends for the 33-year-old man, who last week won the Ballon d’Or in London.

“This is the best time of my life. Last season was the same, these are the best times both on and off the pitch. It’s been pretty crazy lately, in a good way. Personally, I don’t necessarily need the attention; it’s a lot to take in, emotionally and mentally. But it’s a great place to be,” he said.

“I’m not the type of person to let it go to my head; there will definitely be some low points around the corner that I’ll have to deal with. I stay focused, and the last year has been amazing. I feel very much at home at the moment – I hope it stays that way for a long time.”

Kane – I’ve always believed in myself

Kane left Tottenham for Bayern in the summer of 2023 and has gone from strength to strength, contributing hugely to the club winning two Bundesliga titles with 156 goals in 161 games.

He added: “When a club like Bayern comes in, it’s exciting. I imagined a challenge for the League, the Cup and the Champions League every year. But there’s also the pressure to perform, on and off the pitch, to have that connection with the fans and the club.”

“It was a big move. I felt comfortable at Tottenham. It’s obviously difficult to make such a big move, but I’ve always believed in myself. Wherever I’ve played, scored goals and helped my team, that’s happened here too. Self-belief is a big factor.”

Kane has impressed both off and on the pitch during his time in Bavaria, a point the club’s hierarchy were keen to make.

Sporting director Max Eberl said: “Harry is a true professional, as you can imagine. It’s not just about his exceptional and world-class performances on the pitch, but the man who embodies everything football should be.

“He’s a family man. In today’s world, so frantic, to have someone like him, who would have every reason to say he’s something special, but he’s not, that’s what makes him extraordinary, both as a footballer and as a person. After the 4-1 defeat at Barcelona at the start of Vincent Kompany’s tenure, Harry stood up and impressed me so much as a role model. You don’t need many words, that’s enough.

Kane deal ‘worth every penny’ – Bayern CEO

Kane’s renewal is a sign of intent for Bayern, which have made the England captain the highest paid player in Europe.

Chief executive Jan-Christian Dreesen said: “Three years ago, this was our biggest transfer. Harry was worth every penny, though, in every way. He takes the game, makes his teammates better and is a role model beyond the sport.

“If we want to remain attractive, to compete at the top of Europe, we have to be financially strong. We want to use every penny we earn to be the best we can be. And when the best player in the world gets a top-level contract, that’s logical. We want to be stable and sound financially, but we also want to have the best team and win. That’s not easy to manage, but financial power is not easy for other clubs to manage.”
