UFC gives update on Raoni Barcelos after scary stoppage

The
Ultimate Fighting Championship has submitted an update
Raoni’s Barcelos after his loss Raul Rosas Jr. at
UFC Vegas 121.

On the scorecards that made it to the last round, Barcelos was ahead. However, during the wrestling match against the Octagon wall, the Brazilian veteran appeared to be limping, forcing the referee to stop the fight. He was later taken out of the Octagon on a stretcher and taken to hospital. The UFC has since released an update on his condition.

Raoni Barcelos is steady and responsive after losing to Raul Rosas Jr. at UFC Vegas 121.

In the year statement According to the UFC, Barcelos was transported to a Level 1 trauma center for further evaluation. The promotion confirmed the 39-year-old is stable and responsive after his trainer initially revealed the same.

“Following his fight tonight, Raoni was immediately transported to a Level 1 trauma center in Barcelos for evaluation,” the statement read. “The hospital’s medical team performed a CT scan and extensive evaluation and he is currently being monitored. Barcelos is stable, alert, responsive and fully mobile. He remains under medical supervision. We will provide updates on his condition as they become available.”

Barcelos put significant damage on Rosas Jr., as well as causing their fast-paced back-and-forth to later earn Fight of the Night honors.
