The Trail Blazers signed the free agent swingman Jaylen Martin to unguaranteed Exhibition 10 contract, according to Joe Freeman of The Oregonian (Link to Twitter), who reports that Martin will be training with the team on Wednesday.
Martin, 22, went undrafted in 2023 after playing in the Overtime Elite League. The 6’6″ wing made 16 regular-season NBA appearances for Brooklyn and Washington during the 2024-25 season, but has mostly played in the G League over the past three seasons.
Last season, Martin played in 39 games for the Delaware Blue Coats and Rip City Remix, averaging 9.6 points, 3.3 rebounds and 1.7 assists in 20.4 minutes per game while shooting .549/.250/.656.
Portland enters the day with two openings on its 21-man preseason roster, so no matching transaction was necessary to create cap space for Martin. The team currently has 20 players under contract, including 12 on guaranteed standard contracts and 3 on two-way contracts.
Martin is expected to return to the Remix, Portland’s G-League affiliate, this fall, according to Freeman. His Exhibit 10 deal will entitle him to a bonus of up to $91K on top of his NBAGL base salary if he spends at least 60 days in Rip City.
