Luis Hernandez eyes Chris Curtis as ‘final nail’ in UFC career

Hernandez made his UFC debut on two days notice at
UFC Vegas 121finish Cedric Dumas in less than a minute. Curtis recently claimed he contacted UFC suitors about facing Hernandez after “The Stache” earned his contract
Dana White Candidate Series earlier this month.

According to Curtis, UFC matchmakers turned down the match because of the difference in experience. Curtis said he reached out to them again after Hernandez’s successful UFC debut on Saturday, but declined for the same reason.

Hernandez claims he buried the hatchet with Strickland. But “The Stache” believes Curtis is chasing leverage by calling him out and finds “The Action Man” nearing the end of his UFC career. A Miami-Dade County sheriff’s deputy believes he can put the final nail in the coffin of Curtis’ UFC run.

However, Hernandez doesn’t want to fight Curtis just yet. He wants to build his profile first so the stakes are higher if and when they finally meet.

“Me and Sean are good,” Hernandez told Ariel Helwan. “I don’t know about Chris. He’s coming out of the woodwork. I think he’s trying to get famous. I’m going to get my fights; I’m going to build my name. If his name comes down the list, I could be the last coffin to retire him … I’ve been respectful. If he has a problem with me, I think we could work it out with him at UFC6-5. If I’m the last nail, it’s going to happen sooner or later, but I want to build my name first and then I will fight.
