Liverpool 2-1 Atletico Madrid: Report, result and goals as Reds come from behind


Liverpool came from behind to win Atlético de Madrid 2-1 at Anfield after Alexis Mac Allister scored shortly after the break to complete a comeback against the Spanish side.

Alexander Isak inadvertently helped the ball into the path of Mac Allister inside the Atlético area, with the Argentina international making the most of it.

Mac Allister curled a left-footed effort from the edge of the box past Oblak and into the bottom-left corner for his 20th goal for Liverpool.

Alvarez came close to adding to Atlético’s threat when he received the ball near the edge of the box, but his home effort was straight at Alisson.

Liverpool had a chance to settle the game when Isak fired over from around 10 yards, only for substitute Robin Le Normand to dive in and block the effort.

Atlético continued to push forward in the latter stages, with Hancko heading in from a tight angle following a corner.

There was late drama as Oblak parried Munoz in the 89th minute before Frimpong turned the ball over from close range, only for the goal to be ruled out for offside.
