If it’s in the game, it’s in the game.
And the endless grab for money is now fully in play.
The NFL and Electronic Arts announced Tuesday the creation of a “Madden NFL Virtual Stadium Sponsorship Program,” which will bring actual NFL sponsors into Maddenverse stadiums. Official sponsors of all 32 NFL teams and league partners will have the opportunity (for a required fee) to place their real-world stadium advertisements in their virtual counterparts.
At the moment, only one brand has been registered. (They don’t pay us to mention them, so we won’t.)
Honestly, it’s amazing that it took EA and the NFL this long to undermine this specific revenue stream. Whatever the dollars are, they are more than they were getting before.
And those who play the game will have more ads in a game they paid to play.
