Lions running back Jahmyr Gibbs and wide receiver Amon-Ra St. The Browns continued their hot start to the season in Sunday’s win over the Jets, and they did something no other teammate has done in more than 60 years.
Gibbs scored three touchdowns against the Jets to move to six on the season. St. Brown had multiple touchdowns in each of the first two games, but was limited to just one in the Lions’ 31-24 victory.
According to the team, that makes them the first teammates to each have at least five touchdowns in the first three weeks of a season since 1962. Dallas Texans running back Abner Haynes and wide receiver Chris Burford accomplished that in the AFL that year.
The Texans went on to win the AFL title before moving to Kansas City to become the Chiefs the following year. The Lions would have no problem duplicating half of that result this year.
