It’s Time to Dress for Fall Golf. Here’s What You Need.

As surely as the sun sets in the west, summer eventually gives way to fall. It’s a poignant thought for many of us. However, as we all know, we cannot change the climate. Although we are in the infancy of autumn and it still feels a lot like summer, the mistletoe of the cooler climate is still present. The morning is definitely cooler and so is the evening. Then there’s the smell – that unmistakably strong aroma and light reddish-brown of the changing leaves with a hint of dew. I could wax poetic about autumn weather but that’s not what we’re here for; we’re here to talk about how to dress for the weather. Here’s what you need to look and feel good on the fall course.

1. A turtleneck sweater

Polo shirts are the foundation of your golf wardrobe – we know that. However, a turtleneck sweater it’s salt and pepper. It adds much-needed flavor and texture to your look, but more importantly, it keeps you warm. In the fall, the morning shifts are cold, and some shifts are just cold in general. A good sweater will get you through those rounds. Don’t let your arrogance get you down… It’s not macho or cool to go short sleeves only in cold weather. You’ll play better when you’re comfortable, and a sweater accomplishes that. My recommendation is Mongolian cashmere sweater from Quince.

If you want to buy a turtleneck sweater, cashmere is one of the best materials you can buy. It’s soft, warm, and oh, so comfortable. Because of this, cashmere has acquired the reputation of being quite expensive. U Mongolian crewneck da Quince has been a game changer in the industry providing exceptional value at an affordable price. I have quite a few of these in my rotation. During fall shifts, I always have one with me.

2. Golf pants

I just mentioned it, but the trend of wearing shorts when it’s too cold to be comfortable needs to stop. Every golfer needs one pants. If you don’t have some, get some because I promise you, being dressed appropriately for the weather will help you play better. Being uncomfortable on the course makes no sense. Golf is hard enough as it is. Why make things more difficult by also taking unnecessary abuse from the elements?

For golf pants, I still recommend Ultra-stretch smart chinos 24/7. They are affordable, look great, fit well, and can be worn anywhere. Personally, I don’t understand buying specific golf clothes; it’s a waste of money. Taking the mature route and wearing pants during the fall is always a good idea.

3. A Cooling Pullover

You’re probably thinking to yourself that a cool sweater makes no sense, but hear me out. As a guy who has a tendency to run hot, I sometimes like to wear layers that allow me to regulate my temperature. While I am generally a critic of performance fabrics, they certainly serve their purpose, and this is one such purpose. Autumn weather is often unpredictable: cold in the morning and just warm in the afternoon. This can make a head spinning outfit.

The problem with cotton and cashmere sweaters is that when it’s too hot, you need to take them off. With a cooling sweater, you don’t have to. They allow you to stay in layers and maintain a consistent temperature throughout the shift. I am the first person who likes to look good on the course wearing organic materials, but sometimes it is not practical or worth it. U B. Draddy Cool Colt Pullover it’s a staple in my golf wardrobe all year round. It’s really amazing. I’m not sure how they created a suit that regulates temperature, but it’s miraculous.

4. A foldable puffer vest

One of the most ubiquitous items on the golf course is a puffer vest. That said, where most golfers go wrong is that they don’t foldable down jacket. Emphasis on the word unpackable. If you need or are looking to buy a new puffer vest, don’t waste your money on one that can’t easily fit in your golf bag or one that is too expensive. Usually these two things go hand in hand. A puffer vest shouldn’t cost more than $100, in fact, it shouldn’t cost anywhere close.

5. A rain jacket

Last but certainly not least, every golfer needs a good rain jacket. Again, fall weather is unpredictable, and there’s nothing worse than being caught in a downpour in the middle of your lap without adequate protection. Trust me, being cold and wet for nine holes is a miserable experience.

When it comes to buying a jacket, we got you covered. My advice is to buy a good rain jacket because you want something that is really waterproof. If you need a recommendation, I promise you, the Abacus Pitch it’s worth the investment.
