Former two-time Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) flyweight champion Deiveson Figueiredo returns to action against top Bantamweight prospects Payton Talbott in UFC 332in the main event this weekend (Saturday, October 3, 2026) at the Delta Center in Salt Lake City, Utah.
And the “Deus da Guerra” may already be plotting his return to the division he once ruled.
At UFC 332 media day, Figueiredo revealed that he has asked the UFC to send him back to flyweight for a chance at a three-time champion against the current 125-pounder. Joshua Van.
“Well, I’ve asked the UFC and told them that I can make this weight very easily,” Figueiredo told reporters through a Portuguese-English interpreter. “I’ve just asked them to do the fight. I want this opportunity and we’ll see if his boxing is as good as mine.”
Of course Figueiredo will have a very hungry Talbott right in front this weekend. The 27-year-old prospect is looking to add former champion to his resume, but Figueiredo seems to have already decided he wants to make one last run at flyweight.
“Two hundred percent,” Figueiredo said when asked if he was serious about returning to 125 pounds. “It’s got to happen. The UFC is going to give me a chance, I’m going to go out there and knock him out.”
Seeing Figueiredo at Flyweight would certainly be interesting, regardless of his age, if only because of the ridiculous power he carries for the division.
Regardless, the timing is a little strange.
That ship has sailed, and even if Figueiredo is serious about making 125 pounds, he’ll likely have to wait for a No. 1 contender. Manel Cape get your promised crack in Van.
What’s more, before Figueiredo starts planning another brutal Flyweight cut, he still has Talbott ready to rock in Salt Lake City.
