The most valuable offers of wasting his time after Paul decided to confront Cedric Doumbe instead of the former
Ultimate Fighting Championship welterweight.
Till said he believed negotiations for the Christmas Eve showdown were progressing and had spent two weeks training with his trainer. Paul announced Monday that he will face Doumbe in an eight-round 200-pound cruiserweight bout on Dec. 24 at the Coca-Cola Arena in Dubai.
Darren Till says he spent £5,000 preparing for potential Jake Paul boxing match ahead of Cedric Doumbe announcement
Speaking on “The Ariel Helwani Show,” Till expressed his disappointment at being passed over.
“I thought we were fine,” Till told Ariel Helwan. “I’ve been in camp with my trainer for the last two weeks. I flew him out seven weeks away, right around the corner, getting ready. It would have been my third fight of the year and a big fight. And out of nowhere, this damn stupid fight with Cedric Doumbe is announced.”
Till questioned Paul’s choice of opponent and suggested he was looking for a less dangerous test after suffering a broken jaw in the knockout loss. Anthony Joshua in December 2025.
“Jake probably just wants to see how his jaw holds up on a good day against someone who weighs about 150 pounds,” Till said. “So, it’s just a scam show. Everyone’s a scammer. Jake’s a scammer. Nakisa (Bidarian, Paul’s business partner) is a little scammer, wasting my time.”
Till said he spent around £5,000 on bringing his coach to the camp. He argued that his size and recent focus on boxing make him a tougher opponent than Doumbe.
“I’m 215 pounds. I’m the same as Jake. I can hit like hell. I’m not slow, I’m fast. I feel like I’m in my prime,” Till added.
