DWCS Season 10 Week 6 Recap and Contract Winners
Tyshawn Williams (9-0) and Antonio Monteiro (18-6) started the action at featherweight. Williams earned a unanimous decision victory after three back-and-forth rounds. Although the UFC CEO Dana White didn’t see enough to sign Williams to a UFC contract, he invited the undefeated prospect to another DWCS opportunity.
“Tyshawn, I really liked your fight and I like you,” White said. “You fought a tough guy with a lot of experience. If you’re ready for it, I’d like to bring you back again. I talked to Sean about it, like you coming back and fighting again in the Contender Series.”
Luis Hernandez (8-0) won Hugo Guillon (7-2) middleweight. Hernandez survived a knockdown and a submission attempt in the second round to knock Guillon out just moments later. White gave the Miami-Dade Sheriff’s Office deputy a UFC contract for his come-from-behind victory.
“Luis, I loved that fight,” White said. “Two dogs hitting each other with big shots… Both of you guys were in trouble; you overcame big shots, fatigue, submission attempts to get the finish. Incredible fight. I thoroughly enjoyed it. Welcome to the UFC.”
Akbar Abdullaev scores a 19-second knockout as four fighters earn UFC contracts at DWCS Week 6
Akbar Abdullayev (14-0) won Ednilson Barros Santos (14-8) in an easy match. Abdullaev completed his jump, taking only 19 seconds to defeat Santos while still on his feet. With a 100% finish, White believes the Kyrgyz prospect could be the biggest in DWCS history.
“Akbar, I don’t even know what to tell you,” White said. “That hit sounded like a baseball bat. I’m going to go out on a limb here and call you probably the biggest talent that’s been on this show in the last 10 years. I think you’re going to be a huge superstar in this sport and a very big threat. I can’t wait to see you fight again. Welcome to the UFC.”
Igor Cavalcanti (14-2) took over Oscar Ravello in a middleweight match. It took Cavalcanti just 98 seconds to take Ravello to the ground and finish with a hard ground and pound.
“Igor, complete and utter violence,” White said. “Couldn’t have done much better against Revello. Good luck, welcome to the UFC.”
Mayton Perea picked up Zevan Hunt
in the main event. Ecuador’s Perea took just 45 seconds to knock out the previously undefeated Hunt with vicious punches.
“Mayton, you beat an undefeated guy in 45 seconds,” White said. “Congratulations and welcome to the UFC.”
