The Bulldogs are the sixth SEC team in my top 10, which is not something I would have predicted a month ago. Kamario Taylor was his usual self, but MSU’s defense made some big stops late to keep the game from going to overtime and set up a massive game in Starkville as the Bullies look to snap a 16-game losing streak to Alabama.

We knew it was a terrible place, but it was more than that. Ole Miss just got kicked off the butt. A welcome week off to rest before a trip to Vandy. You never want to jump to conclusions, but Louisville lost to Wake and do we really know how good LSU is? Maybe that LSU game was just the perfect storm and more losses are on the horizon?

The Tide made quick work of the South Carolina walking dead team, and Keelon Russell continued to chip in. It should be a high-scoring game in Starkville this week, and the Tide D will have its work cut out for it.

IU was definitely on a roll Friday night, and it was a Northwestern facemask penalty away from punting and giving the Purple Cats the ball near midfield to lead by just two. Injuries are piling up at running back, so that means Josh Hoover will have to be the guy to carry this team through the air. Take a look at the country ahead this week before a trip to undefeated Nebraska.

The Gators were in a great spot last week, hosting an Ole Miss team coming off an upset win over LSU. Now the shoe is on the other foot, as the Gators must head to Missouri after Saturday’s big win. But with that running game and defensive line, Florida will be tough for anyone.

A predictable Purdue loss, and now, a trip to North Carolina this week. We’ll see if UNC’s defense is able to slow down CJ Carr and an offense that continues to struggle to get off the field.

We thought the Buckeyes were going to blow all over Illinois and they did. Jeremiah Smith & Co. will likely have a tougher test against Phil Parker’s Hawkeye D in Iowa City. Still, I’d be surprised if the Buckeyes didn’t drop a winner against an Iowa team that just stole one in Ann Arbor.

If Georgia isn’t the best team in the country, there’s a good chance Miami is. The Canes offense has been scary good and that win at Wake Forest looks a little better than it did a week ago. A night game at Clemson should serve as Miami’s biggest test to date.

Georgia is favored to win the SEC and the highest rated power of any team in the league. The Bulldogs offense is a big game right now and there is a very good chance the Bulldogs are the best team in the country. Tougher tests await, but the Dawgs appear well-equipped to pass them.

An ugly win is still a win. And sometimes, they tell you more about a team than blowout wins. That’s two potentially lost games in the schedule the Horns have navigated. So why don’t I feel good about them? Well, they’re off this week, then they get a bad Oklahoma team in Dallas. After that, it becomes real. Florida, Ole Miss, Miss State, at Missouri, at LSU, at Texas A&M. Maybe not as scary as it once seemed, but I wouldn’t rule out some losses.
