Georgia, Texas and Alabama consecutively held the No. 1 spot in the first six polls in 2024. The only other time in the Top 25 era that three teams had been No. 1 at this point in the season was 1990.
— Notre Dame and Miami, dubbed “Catholic vs. Convicts” rivals since their classic game in 1988, haven’t been in the top three together since Nov. 9, 1993.
— Texas’ six-spot drop from No. 1 to No. 7 matches its decline following an early-season loss to Ohio State last year.

No. 4 Ohio State at No. 5 Indiana: Ohio State plays its second top-five game of the season. Indiana won the last meeting 13-10 in the 2025 Big Ten championship game, when the Hoosiers were the no. 2 and the Buckeyes were no. 1.
No. 2 Notre Dame at No. 8 BYU: The first top-10 game at LaVell Edwards Stadium. The Cougars won the last time Notre Dame visited, in 2004.
16 Mississippi State at No. 22 LSU: First time the teams have met as ranked opponents since 2018.
6 Alabama at No. 14 Tennessee: The Crimson Tide have lost the last two times they’ve visited Knoxville. The big question for the Volunteers is who will start at quarterback.
No. 13 Missouri at No. 9 Mississippi: Motivation won’t be a problem for Mizzou QB Austin Simmons. He started last season as Ole Miss’ starter, got hurt, recovered and was benched behind a guy named Trinidad Chambliss.
No. 18 Oklahoma State at No. 20 Houston: This will be the first time these teams meet as ranked opponents.
