Double
Ultimate Fighting Championship the featherweight titleholder recently faced a series of unusual challenges against Australian Jordan Mailata, Philadelphia Eagles offensive lineman and Super Bowl winner. For Volkanovski, that meant facing the much larger Mailata, who stands 6-foot-8.
Alexander Volkanovski takes on Philadelphia Eagles linebacker Jordan Mailata for a UFC-NFL challenge
The contest began with Volkanovski and Mailata testing their punching power on a machine before the NFL star volunteered to take body shots from the UFC veteran.
Volkanovski was then able to take the much larger athlete off his feet before finally securing the choke. Mailata was able to lift Volkanovski off the ground at one point, showing the pair’s obvious size difference.
Despite the physical mismatch, Mailata remained a good sport throughout the ordeal, though she occasionally questioned why she agreed to take on the challenge.
The latest challenge allowed Mailata to use some of the skills that made him an NFL standout. Tasked with protecting the dummy from Volkanovski, the UFC champion still managed to find a way to succeed.
