WWE NXT Champion Grayson Waller has found his footing on the developing brand, becoming more confident in his WWE future as a result. However, he believes his main roster left a lot to be desired, and he looked back on that chapter of his career in an interview; “Cheap heat”. According to Waller, he realized his main roster was losing steam during WWE’s visit to Australia last year.
“I’m an Australian icon,” he said. “We’ve got Rhea (Ripley) and Bronson (Reid) but nobody repeats Australia like me. Nobody does media for Australia like me. Grayson was told that despite having three shows in Australia, there was “no story” on the ground.
Instead of appearing on one of the main televised shows, Waller wrestled Ray Phoenix for the WWE Main Event and claimed the biggest reaction of the night. “It was great when I said. “I told you. I knew if you put me in the places I needed to be, this could be huge.” I was a little upset that we had three shows and you didn’t have room for Grayson Waller,” he said.
Reflecting on his elimination that weekend, Grayson insisted the whole ordeal only motivated him to prove himself more to WWE and make sure he has something important to do on the card the next time the promotion visits Australia.
