A perennial NBA center Aleksey Leon signed a two-year contract with Baskonia, announced the Spanish team in a press release (tip to Eurohoops.net).
After two collegiate seasons at Maryland, Lahn was selected by the Suns with the fifth overall pick in the 2013 draft. The Ukrainian giant spent the next 12 years in the NBA, mainly playing for Phoenix and Sacramento. He also suited up for Atlanta, Toronto, Washington and the Lakers.
In 12 NBA seasons, the last of which came in 2024-25, Len averaged career averages of 6.7 points, 5.3 rebounds and 0.9 blocks in 17.0 minutes per game. He made 690 appearances during the regular season, including 244 as a starter.
Len received a training camp invite from the Knicks last fall, but was waived before the start of the 2025-26 season. Shortly after being cut by New York, he signed a multi-year contract with Real Madrid.
The 33-year-old’s first season with Los Blancos was a disappointment as he was buried on the depth chart behind former NBA big men Walter Tavares and Usman Garuba. In 23 Euroleague games, Len averaged just 3.0 ppg and 2.0 ppg at 9.0 mpg.
Real Madrid broke up with Len in early July and it was still on the open market. He should get a chance to play more with Baskonia as the only other option in the Euroleague and ACB League side in the middle is Kenneth Farid. Center Khalifa Diop left Baskonia for the Cavaliers. earlier this month.
