Whittaker discussed Page’s latest win on the “MMarcade Podcast.” The former UFC champion praised the Briton’s ability and explained why he sometimes prefers to watch his fights later than tune in live. “I’ll be honest with you, no,” Whittaker said. “No, I can’t because I didn’t even want to watch it and I have nothing but respect for MVP. His ability to do what he’s doing at his age is crazy. He’s like dancing out there. He’s so fast and fluid.”
Whittaker believes Page can be the best point fighter in the UFC, but that approach could make it difficult to get through his matches.
“I don’t think there’s a single person who can win the point parrying MVP in the UFC. He’s that good at it,” added Whittaker. “I feel like he has almost like a live feed of the judges’ scorecards. As soon as it starts to go down, he does a little bit more and it goes back up. He just does enough.”
Whittaker understands why Page doesn’t take too many risks, which makes him a difficult matchup.
“He can go out next fight, listen to our commentary and go out and just start throwing hands, get starched, cut and everything,” Whittaker said. “He’s definitely an enigma to a lot of fighters. He’s not fun to fight for anybody.”
