November 6 – Spanish football is paying tribute to Jesús de Miguel, the 30-year-old CD Tenerife player who died following a collision on the pitch with FC Andorra goalkeeper Jesús Owono during a second division match earlier this week.
During the next round of LaLiga and Liga F, and in the lower level leagues of the RFEF, Spanish football will honor the memory of De Miguel in all stadiums, under the message ‘Siempre En Nuestro Recuerdo’ (‘Always in our thoughts’).
The players will enter the pitch together, dressed in a special shirt with the number 9 and the message ‘Siempre En Nuestro Recuerdo’, while the captains will pay a floral tribute in his memory. This will be followed by a minute’s silence, during which the stadium’s video screens and display systems will show an image of de Miguel.
The tribute will continue in-game. At the first stop from the ninth minute, in reference to his shirt number, the game will be stopped and the video screens in the stadium will show a tribute video.
The minute’s silence will also be observed in all national competitions organized by the RFEF and Liga F, ensuring that the tribute extends to all levels of Spanish football.
CD Tenerife will hold a formal tribute in memory of the player on Saturday at the Heliodoro Rodríguez López Stadium, broadcast live by the LALIGA HYPERMOTION channel and the official LALIGA YouTube channel.
“While recognizing and respecting the different sensitivities expressed in this moment of mourning, the intention is that the entire professional football family remembers the player with the respect, dignity and recognition he deserves,” said LaLiga.
“The RFEF, LALIGA and Liga F reiterate their deepest condolences to the family and loved ones of Jesús de Miguel, his teammates and the entire CD Tenerife family, and stand by him in these difficult times.”
